Dentures in Mississauga: Types, Cost & What to Expect at Bansal Family Dentistry

Considering dentures in Mississauga? Learn about complete, partial, and implant-supported dentures, what they cost, and what the process looks like at Bansal Family Dentistry.

Are Dentures Right for You?

Losing teeth — whether from injury, decay, or gum disease — affects far more than your smile. It can make eating difficult, change the shape of your face, and impact your confidence. Dentures remain one of the most reliable and affordable ways to restore your smile and function, and modern dentures look and feel far better than they did a generation ago.

At Bansal Family Dentistry in Mississauga, we offer complete dentures, partial dentures, and guidance on implant-supported options to help you find the best solution for your situation.

Types of Dentures We Offer

Complete (Full) Dentures

Complete dentures replace all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw (or both). They rest directly on the gum tissue and are held in place by suction and the natural contours of your mouth. Complete dentures are typically recommended when all of the natural teeth in an arch have been lost or need to be removed.

There are two timing options:

  • Conventional dentures — made after the gums have healed following extractions (usually 8–12 weeks). These fit more precisely.
  • Immediate dentures — made in advance and placed right after extractions, so you’re never without teeth. Minor adjustments are typically needed as your gums heal and change shape.

Partial Dentures

If you still have some healthy natural teeth, a partial denture fills in the gaps. It attaches to your remaining teeth using metal clasps or precision attachments and can be removed for cleaning. Partials are a cost-effective way to restore your smile without touching teeth that don’t need treatment.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For patients who want a more secure, permanent solution, implant-supported dentures attach to dental implants placed in the jawbone. These don’t slip, don’t require adhesive, and help preserve jawbone density over time. They’re the most stable option available and feel closest to natural teeth. Ask our team if you’re a candidate.

What Does the Denture Process Look Like?

Getting dentures at Bansal Family Dentistry typically involves the following steps:

  1. Consultation and exam — We assess your oral health, discuss your goals, and determine which type of denture is right for you.
  2. Impressions — Detailed moulds of your mouth are taken so your dentures are custom-fitted to your exact anatomy.
  3. Try-in fitting — Before the final denture is made, you try a wax model so we can check the fit, bite, and appearance and make adjustments.
  4. Final placement — Your finished dentures are placed and fine-tuned for comfort and function.
  5. Follow-up adjustments — It’s normal to need a few small adjustments in the weeks after placement as you adapt.

How Much Do Dentures Cost in Mississauga?

Denture costs in Ontario generally range as follows:

  • Complete dentures: $1,500–$3,000 per arch
  • Partial dentures: $1,000–$2,500
  • Implant-supported dentures: $3,000–$6,000+ per arch (depending on the number of implants)

If you have the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), basic dentures may be covered in full or in part depending on your income level. We are a CDCP provider and can verify your coverage before your appointment. Learn more in our CDCP guide.

Tips for Adjusting to New Dentures

It takes most people 4–8 weeks to fully adjust to dentures. A few things that help:

  • Start with soft foods and cut food into smaller pieces
  • Practice speaking by reading aloud — your tongue will adapt quickly
  • Remove dentures overnight to let your gums rest
  • Clean them daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner (not regular toothpaste)
  • Store them in water or a soaking solution when not worn
