CDCP at the Dentist: What Bansal Family Dentistry Patients Need to Know (2025)

Everything you need to know about using the Canadian Dental Care Plan at Bansal Family Dentistry in Mississauga. We accept CDCP — here’s how it works.

What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program that provides dental coverage to eligible Canadians who don’t have private dental insurance. Launched in 2024 and expanding through 2025, it’s one of the most significant changes to dental care access in Canadian history.

At Bansal Family Dentistry in Mississauga, we are a proud CDCP provider. We welcome all eligible patients — from toddlers to seniors — and we handle the billing directly with the government so you don’t have to.

Who Is Eligible for CDCP?

To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you generally need to meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are a Canadian resident with a valid SIN
  • You do not have access to dental benefits through private insurance (employer plan, spouse’s plan, etc.)
  • Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000 per year
  • You filed your taxes the previous year

Coverage amounts vary based on income: families earning under $70,000 receive 100% coverage; those between $70,000–$79,999 receive 60%; and those between $80,000–$89,999 receive 40%.

What Services Are Covered Under CDCP?

CDCP covers a broad range of essential dental services, including:

  • Routine exams and check-ups
  • X-rays and diagnostic imaging
  • Teeth cleanings (scaling and polishing)
  • Fillings (amalgam and composite)
  • Extractions
  • Root canals (on eligible teeth)
  • Dentures (partial and complete)
  • Emergency dental services

Cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening and Invisalign are not covered, but most essential care is.

How to Use Your CDCP at Bansal Family Dentistry

Using CDCP at our clinic is simple:

  1. Check your eligibility — Apply through Service Canada online or by phone. Once approved, you’ll receive a welcome letter and be able to confirm your coverage through My Service Canada Account.
  2. Book your appointment — Call us at (905) 671-1553 or book online. Let us know you’re a CDCP patient when you book.
  3. Bring your SIN — We’ll verify your coverage directly with the government before your visit. No paperwork required from you.
  4. Get your treatment — We bill the government directly for covered services. If a service isn’t fully covered, we’ll let you know the out-of-pocket amount before we proceed.

Do You Have to Pay Anything Out of Pocket?

It depends on your income level and what services you need. For families earning under $70,000, most core services are 100% covered with no copay. For higher income brackets, there may be a 40–60% copay for some services.

We will always give you a clear breakdown of costs before beginning any treatment so there are no surprises.

Can Children and Seniors Use CDCP at Bansal Dentistry?

Yes — absolutely. CDCP covers eligible patients of all ages. We treat children, adults, and seniors, and both Dr. Vijay Bansal and Dr. Suraj Bansal are accepting new CDCP patients.
